Pyrite is probably one of my favorites stones, for its shape, texture and rich colors. Each stone is unique which makes it very interesting to work with, it is also a stone with many symbols and great virtues.

Pyrite has a metallic color, varying from silver tone to gold tone. The origin of the name is from the Greek pyros, which means fire, because it sparks with friction. Pyrite has often been called ‘’Fool’s gold’’ due to its resemblance with gold.

The early humans used pyrite to make a fire, firestone, old legends have attributed some magical properties; they said that pyrite held fire in its heart. Many ancient civilizations such as Greek and Romans used pyrite for jewelry and ornaments. In classical times, the stone was highly appreciated for its healing powers, during the Middle Age, some believed that pyrite could be turned into gold, and the Native-Americans have used it as an amulet.
